how to find the work you were meant to do (w/ Chris Guillebeau)

I’m writing this from a coffee shop in the West Village.

For those of you who didn’t know, I used to live in New York. When I left the City five years ago, I was feeling pretty sad about it; I felt I’d “failed” living here and that I wasn’t “edgy” enough for the City. The City, in its chaos and extremes, represented a loss in my life.

New York symbolized my insecurity and self-doubt.

Which brings us to today. I came to New York City for the book launch of Katie’s Let It Out: A Journey Through Journaling. I met people I’d only followed/chatted with on Instagram. I hugged my own coach (yep I totally have one) in person for the first time. I felt decidedly a part of something, and more so, a part of something empowering and light-filled.

I finally found that elusive “thing” that I left New York in search of. Friends, this is a victory tour.

So what’s the “thing,” Annika? And what does this have to do with your podcast? The “thing” is purpose. The “thing” is a magically place at the intersection of joy, money, and flow, a place where I show up with endless energy and capacity to work and walk away with deep satisfaction, gratitude, and a chunk of change in return. So this week I brought an exceptionally special guest on the show to talk about it.

Chris Guillebeau has been inspiring me for years. He’s been to every country in the world. He’s published multiple New York Times bestsellers. He’s hosted World Domination Summits and broken some world records. Chris is the real deal.

This week, Chris and I talked about purpose (that joy, money, flow model) and the exact steps that you can start taking today to feel less lost and more fulfilled. More than anything, I want you to have a full circle life-purpose moment like I am having in New York right now. Chris is the perfect place to start. [Book here!]
