the social responsibility of spirituality

A rising tide lifts all boats.

As we practice the principles of personal development, growth, and spirituality in our lives, we realize we have a duty to the people around us… because we really all are the same.

And when we serve people and meet them where they are, we create a safer world. It’s like this: The less people have to worry about getting food on the table, whether in rural or inner city America, the more they are going to be able to focus on their own development and education. And the more they focus on their own development and education, the less likely they are going to be to shoot someone… or elect Donald Trump.

So spirituality is responsibility.
And it’s the Monday after the inauguration. Are you wondering how you might keep up the momentum after an exciting weekend?

OPTIONS:

1) Take this quiz to figure out which organization is best for you. Not an exhaustive list, but it’s a start! http://jointhemovementtoday.weebly.com/quiz.html

2) Join the resistance here: http://www.100daysofresistance.org/

3) Enter your zip code and find your nearest swing district. Knowing it is important. Then sign up to learn more about how to help swing it and get progressives elected here: https://swingleft.org/

4) Grab a friend (I’ve nominated a few) and do these 10 actions together. https://www.womensmarch.com/100

5) THIS CHECKLIST IS LIT. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1FKXcRFOg5VS-UjCyH2jmgRTm-sQY_PB65Gxo-rwMT6A/preview

6) Educate yourself on the issues. Learn about poverty and inequality and climate change and reproductive health and veteran’s issues. It’s probably going to make you angry and uncomfortable, so take breaks and take care of yourself. And then act. Start acting and do not stop.

7) Keep learning and evolving. Pay attention to the words you use and be open to changing them. Ask questions, be kind, and don’t back down.
